Are those celebrities who are getting married?! This was the question that my classmates and I were asked more than once when we photographed the wedding of Joanne and Jason on June 21. Passersby near the Harbour Banquet and Conference Centre in Oakville where we took the formal wedding pictures were convinced this couldn't possibly be a regular bride and groom with almost a dozen photographers hovering around them. Each of us had assigned jobs that day. In the morning my classmates Charro, Gigi and I spent time at the bride's house and photographed her and her bridesmaids getting ready for Joanne's big day. In the evening I also had the chance to capture the beautifully decorated reception hall at the Harbour Banquet and Conference Center!
For one of the last assignments in my Wedding Photography II course we spent an evening photographing wedding details such as bridal shoes, jewelry and party favors among others. The centre piece of attention, however, was an amazing three-tiered wedding cake baked by one of my classmates, Charro March. She had spent hours baking and decorating the previous days and I was fascinated by the intricacy of the decorations. I told her there'd be another career for her if she wanted to! After the others and I spent a good amount of time capturing this elaborate cake it was finally time to get a taste of it, too. Three tiers - chocolate, vanilla and lemon - one more delicious than the other!
I’m a little behind with my blogging but I don’t want to miss sharing a few photos from the session with Carny and Joe. On May 24th my wedding photography course from Sheridan met on campus in Oakville for an engagement photo shoot. Well, in the case of Carny and Joe it wasn’t exactly that as they already got married last year in November. But since they didn’t really have any engagement photos done they were excited about the idea of making up for that! I for my part was thrilled to have them! They are so genuinely kind and it was wonderful to see how they connect with each other make each other laugh!
Wow - what an eventful Saturday morning! I had met up with my classmates and instructor from my Sheridan wedding photography course at the RBG in Burlington for another fun photo shoot. Through friends I had found a wonderful couple, Sarah and Keith, who were prepared to be my partner's and my models for this morning. Those two were great fun to be with! We had just found a lovely location in the gardens under some big trees, done a few nice shots when suddenly the unthinkable happened: after taking a picture of Sarah from a flower bed (naughty) I tripped - probably over my own feet - and went flying headlong to the ground!! Camera, camera, protect the camera!!! was the last thing I could think. The little finger on my left hand took most of the abuse and was twisted into a weird and unrecognizable shape when I got up. Broken - as they later told me at the hospital. What a shame that the photo shoot had to come to such an abrupt end for me! Thank you Sarah and Keith for coming out to the RBG that day! Here are a few pictures of this beautiful couple!
